Department of Transportation Exam

CDL Medical Exam and CMV Certification

The CDL Medical Exam and CMV Certification

All commerical motor vehicle (CMV) drivers are required to have a Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examination every two years. This is part of your CDL (Commercial Drivers License) requirements. You must carry your DOT MEDICAL EXAM CARD with you while driving a commercial vehicle.

A Department of Transportation (DOT) CDL physical examination is conducted by a licensed medical examiner. The term includes, but is not limited to, doctors of medicine (MD), doctors of osteopathy (DO), physician assistants (PA), advanced practice nurses (APN), and doctors of chiropractic (DC). A CDL physical exam is valid for up to 24 months. The medical examiner may also issue a medical examiner's certificate for less than 24 months when it is desireable to monitor a condition, such as high blood pressure.

If the medical examiner finds that the person he/she examined is physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), the medical examiner will furnish one copy of the results to the person who was examined and complete a Medical Examiner's Certificate. Two copies of the Medical Examiner's Certificate will also be given to you. If you need a copy faxed to your company, this is completed for you as well.

What to Expect?

The process is kept simple at Advanced Healthcare Center and includes the following:
The driver completes a health history form. Be sure you know the names of the medications you are currently taking. Your history will be reviewed by the doctor.
Your height, weight, blood pressure, pulse rate, range of motion, breathing, vision and hearing will be observed or tested.

Your medications and ANY SPECIAL MEDICAL CONDITIONS will be reviewed. A urine sample to check for sugar, blood, protein and specific gravity (hydration) will be required. THIS IS NOT A DRUG TEST.

Price of Exam

The fee for this service is only $125.00. Payment options include cash, credit card, or debit card.
